For the money, I cannot imagine finding anything better. It is 3/28/09 and Nikon has discontinued these, if you want something like it, better buy it NOW. The only thing they currently make like it is a lot more expensive. It has an illuminated reticle, but is a German type, which I have read is not very good. I do not know that personally, and it was the OPINIONS of several folks, so some may love it. Anyway, this scope is really great for close quarter tactical, or close in hunting like rabbits or squirrels. Good out to 75 yards or a little more.

I've had mine on my remington 1100 for 4 years now and put down quite a few deer with it. It's great in low light situations. It's one of the best!
